Lumeon — Record weight

Our basic approach when developing our products aims at conserving energy. In order to make the available energy universally usable, we create a tonal balance. This is also the case with this new record weight, Luméon.

The Luméon is designed with a weight of just 369 grams.
With a diameter of 87mm, it is quite large. The construction is derived from his bigger model, the Crown of Equilibrium.

The overall construct creates a record weight, which stabilizes the contours, the internal energy of the instruments and voices, as well as the coherent allocation in the sound image, and thus makes it possible to experience them with new intensity. The Luméon doesn't create a character, it allows it.

To make this possible, we had to use a new hardwood, adapt its shape and equip it with elements from the our partner Corfac2 (phitOn_resonators). Overall, a very functional tool for a resonabble amount of money.

Emotions and understanding of music are intensified with the Luméon.

The price of this gem is 596 euros at product launch (first small series).

More questions
What kind of wood is the weight made of?

It is a special maple laminate, which is pressed with a resin under pressure. This enables us to achieve the density of ebony and a very homogeneous resonance frequency that we need for our applications.

What are the dimensions of the weight?

With a diameter of 87mm, it is quite large. The height is 39mm.

What is to be expected in terms of sound when you use this weight?

The energy in music condenses and the instruments regain their body. In addition, inner peace increases, which contributes to more correct timing. The music can be experienced as if the shifting resonances had no early influence on the record.

What is more important, a record edition or a record weight?

In our opinion, both. In the best case, no materials are used that reduce energy, i.e. dampen it. We therefore do not recommend cork or rubber mats, etc. A perfect match can make a big difference here. The Subbase record weights do not reduce energy, so they also work universally in this area. Attenuation is only ever possible in a defined - quite narrow - frequency band. Therefore, in combination with the material of the plate, not universal.

Why can't you screw the Luméon to the spindle?

By tightening the clamps by hand, a different torque is created each time. As a result, the resonance of the record is different every time and so the sound has a different effect. More pressure, more damping. If a weight is only applied, the contact pressure is always identical.
